Health Benefits of Mulberry Tea
Ancient man including the Greeks, the Chinese and the Celts all have left a record of using Mulberry in medicinal applications. In fact they used virtually the entire plant. The berry's are an excellent dietary supplement high in protein and are also processed into a syrup used for stomach disorders. The roots and sap were used by the Celts for a variety of medicinal purposes. Of course the leaves have been used for centuries as well.
The most common use of white mulberry leaf tea today is as a supplement to a regimen to manage diabetes. Another common recommendation from practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine is as an aid in slowing arteriosclerosis.
Scientists in Japan have found a naturally occurring sugar in the leaves of the white mulberry plant called 1-deoxynojirimycin, to inhibit the metabolization of complex sugars into simple sugars. These simple sugars are a primary causative of hypoglycemia. Since the metabolization is slowed, a greater percentage of the complex sugars are passed safely from the body as waste rather than entering the bloodstream.
Biologically active compounds in the leaves of white mulberry inhibit the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol (the bad cholesterol). The reduced LDL in turn helps mitigate the build-up of arterial plaque. Scientists note that this should help prevent stroke and LDL related heart diseases.

At Beautique Thai, we believe strongly in the efficacy of natural remedies to maintain the body's balance. Herbal remedies are steeped in history, and sometimes in myth. And many products are sold on the premise that they may help certain conditions. We try to restrict our recommendations to those that have good, recently researched, basis in fact. In addition to the use of any product, you should maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating fresh fruit and vegetables every day, drinking plenty of water, and undertaking good aerobic exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. If you are taking any medication, we strongly suggest you consult your medical practitioner before adding any new oral remedy, herbal or otherwise.
